For me, there is few things as exciting as walking into a spice shop. The aromas take you to far away lands and remind you of restaurants where you’ve enjoyed dishes with similar smells. Of course some spices are stronger than others but when you combine them, you can create a new, glorious aroma.
Probably some of the most popular of these mixtures in America are things like taco or chili seasoning and BBQ rubs. I have been making my own taco seasoning and BBQ rub for several years now. The sodium content in those packages you buy at the store is outrageous! You can find my taco seasoning recipe here. And one of my BBQ spice rubs can be found here.
I recently found this chart on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to try out some other seasoning mixes too. I would guess any homemade blends we can make will be healthier than their preserved counterparts at the grocery store. So dig into your spice cabinet and start creating. Here’s to spicing up our lives through food!
